Ruby Goe - “Get On It”

Ruby Goe combines elements from the three biggest names in alternative pop: the texture of her voice is reminiscent of Santigold, the electronica heavy production sounds like Robyn, and those drum beats are all M.I.A., baby. Putting aside all the comparisons, “Get On It” is just a super fun track.

Kelly Clarkson - You Love Me

Every song that’s leaked from Clarkson’s new album has been incredibly strong, including the latest, “You Love Me.” Each song has it’s own distinct sound and style, which hasn’t been true for many artists releasing new music this year. Stronger is my most anticipated album of 2011.

The Saturdays - My Heart Takes Over

Lots of staring off into the distance for the Saturdays. The song continues to grow on me as a strong midtempo ballad, though I’d rather hear more uptempo tracks from the group.

Medina - For Altid

The fact that I don’t understand a single word of this Danish song means very little to me. (via popjustice)

Cher Lloyd ft. Mike Posner - “With Ur Love”

A few months ago, I was convinced Cher Lloyd was one of the worst pop acts to come out of X Factor. There was no redeeming value from “Swagger Jagger,” Unless it was meant to be some horribly aggravating joke.

But this song has made me rethink my quick dismissal of the British singer. Posner’s verse is pretty horrible, especially the ick factor of the “yummy” line, and the spelling of your is pointless, but it’s it has a fun bubbly chorus that I’ve had stuck in my head the past week. Here’s hoping Cher sticks to singing and stays away from rapping on the rest of her album.

I’m also curious to see if she mentions ‘swagger’ in every song. That must prove difficult eventually as there are only so many things you can rhyme it with.

Marina & The Diamonds - Radioactive

This is pretty great. She hasn’t ventured too far from her signature sound while the song is definitely reminiscent of the current style of pop (eletronic and synthy with a simple killer chorus)  right now.

“You and I” is too good of pop song for this video. Yet another misstep for Gaga when it comes to recent music videos.
